Wisdom at the feet of your Mentor!

... So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle... Exodus 33:11

When God called Moses to the leadership journey to lead the children of Israel from Egypt to Canaan, he was around 80 years of age. However, he did not get to see Canaan for he died on the way. God introduced to him a mentee that will lead Israel to cross the river Jordaan to Canaan. But the Mentee, Joshua had to seat at the feet of Moses and experience the anointing of God bestowed upon Moses; he had to have a an experience of the crossing of the Red Sea by his mentor.
Joshua's success in leading Israel to Canaan was at the feet of Moses. Find somebody's feet at glue yourself there. Be their servant and learn from them.

Understanding at the Feet of your Mentor!

No.1
Moses would speak with God face to face as a friend; Joshua would sometimes be called by Moses to come and see this magnificent view. At times he (Joshua) would sneak out of the camp of Israel just to be with Moses. This young man was positioning himself for greatness.
In this short story we learn the relationship between the mentor and mentee.

No.2
We cannot lead anyone to greatness unless we become faithful followers, mentees at the feet of that powerful woman, at the feet of that man of God. This ideology is not found in spiritual matters but in all faculties of life, one needs a mentor. To reach greatness, excellency, to become a person of high integrity and honour, one needs first to find a mentor, a person who has held the ropes for sometime. You need to seat at the feet of a person who has matured in that discipline, a person who has tasted the failure, who has failed and rose again, a person who has made it. A clear minded individual.

No.3
To seat at someones feet will not always be rosy, at times you feel challenged to the core that you feel you need to quit. The mentor will push you beyond your limits. He or she is there to advice you, to give direction, to support you, to enrich and empower you. This process is no child's play. Here you are starting a journey of sleeping less that 6 hours a day. By the time the mentor finishes with you, of which that time will never come, you would be reading books like a CEO, a minimum of 4 books a month. Be ready to stop wasting time with watching TV. You are off the streets here. No time for being on Facebook for hours giving away your hard earned money to Mark Zuckerberg for nothing. Unless of cause you are working here. You are buying your time back.

No.4
No great man or woman in the bible nor in today's life ever succeeded without a mentor. Before I dish to you renowned man of old who reached their greatness through mentors, let me lay out some of the responsibilities of the mentee: you must have a teachable spirit, be patient with yourself, take calculated risks, have a super right attitude, be a good listener and learn to take instructions, last but not least, stop this nonsensical attitude of knowing it all, it will not get you anywhere. You need a mentor.

Look at these great man of old and learn from them: for Lot to reach the prosperity he had, he needed to seat at the feet of Abraham. King David needed the son of his enemy, Jonathan. Solomon needed his mother, Bathsheba. The prophet Elisha needed to be a servant to Elijah and call the young prophet "Father" and Elijah would call Elisha, "my son." Peter needed to seat at the feet of Jesus for 3 years for him to preach one sermon that converted 3000 souls in 1 day. Paul needed Gamaliel, the great old testament scholar.

Even in business you need to hang around individuals that are greater than you.

Richard Branson to start Atlantic Virgin, he needed Sir Freddie Laker. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak were mentored by Mike Markkula. And in return Steve Jobs raised the Facebook giant Mark Zuckerberg. And Bill Gates is the product of Warren Buffet.
Go out there and find your mentor, find someone to mentor. Influence and lead someone to be greater than you. For all your faculties of life, find a good mentor.

I can go on and on but let me end this by redirecting your attention to the Master Mentor by the name of Jesus. For Joshua to be the leader that he became thousands of years ago, the above text records that he did not depart from the tabernacle. For you not to die with your mentor when he or she is no more, make sure that your mentor leads you to the tabernacle. The word tabernacle means, dwelling. However, the word dwelling does not do enough justice, so the same word also means a person, and this is according to the book revelation chapter 21:4. Tabernacle was a structure that pointed to Christ that was to come. It was a shadow. In a nutshell tabernacle means Jesus Christ, God with us in Matt. 1:23. See also John 1:14.

Find a mentor that will lead you to greatness in this life and ultimately to God, your Father, Jesus Christ, your Master Mentor and Saviour!
